The Worst Advice We've Ever Heard About Auto Transport Services

It goes without saying that there's a lot of bad advice floating around on the Internet. It also goes without saying that you shouldn't believe everything that you hear. Here at DIY Transport, we hear a lot of strange (and downright wrong) bits of auto transport advice from all kinds of sources-and hopefully, that advice hasn't made its way to you.
Here is some of the worst advice about auto transport services that we've ever heard.

1. Fill Up Your Tank Before Shipping

This bit of advice is actually the polar opposite of what you're supposed to do before shipping a vehicle. Filling up your tank with gas adds weight to the auto transport carrier, which can cause delays during transport. Aim to leave a % tank of gas in your tank when your vehicle is ready to be shipped.

2. Pick The Cheapest Auto Transport Quote

We all want to save money, but picking the cheapest auto transport quote possible isn't always the best idea. You may save money, but you could end up paying in other aspects with late deliveries or damaged vehicles.

3. Pack Your Car Full of Stuff

This is another terrible piece of advice, and yet again it all comes down to weight limit issues on the carrier trucks. Not to mention, auto transport companies aren't insured to transport anything other than, well, automobiles. You can sometimes get away with packing pillows or linens in your trunk, but that's about it.

4. You Don't Need a Broker

Brokers are important in the auto transport process for several reasons. First, they help streamline the auto transport process. Second, they help keep you updated throughout the shipment and inform you of the status of your delivery. And secondly, they help make your life a whole lot easier, all the way around.

Have You Fell Victim to Any of This Bad Advice?

If so, we're hoping that we've helped set the record straight. We're happy to help your auto transport experience be the best that it can be by offering word class service and honest advice.
